I can’t remember all the ways I’ve tried to secure my 20-pound propane tank in the back of my pickup. What I can’t forget is the unnerving sound of the tank rolling around, denting the inside of the cargo box, after breaking free from an assortment of ropes or bungee cords. Wedging the tank between an ice chest and some other object that I hoped wouldn’t slide around has been equally unsuccessful. The Tanksetter is a perfectly simple, and affordable, way to end the headaches associated with transporting a propane tank. It’s also a great way to stabilize a propane tank when using a turkey fryer or outdoor cooker. For my initial test drive, I placed the tank exactly where it is shown in the photo and drove my usual route, at my usual speeds, to the propane refill tank. To be honest, I half expected the Tanksetter to slide around (at best) and possibly tip over. It did neither. It stayed right where I placed it, which I wouldn’t have believed if I hadn’t seen. Constructed of heavy-duty, UV-resistant polypropylene, the Tanksetter can be used with most propane tanks ranging from 5- to 40-pound capacities. Made in the U.S.A. Available from cabelas.com for $14.99.
